DALKEITH COUNTRY PARK
Just a few miles outside Edinburgh, Dalkeith Country Park offers a range of activities for all the family. It has been transformed into a thriving visitor attraction which welcomes many thousands of visitors each year. Following the creation of the Restoration Yard in 2016, a unique lifestyle destination at the heart of the park, further developments have included a significant investment in Fort Douglas Adventure Park and the launch of a partnership with Go Ape in 2021.
RESTORATION YARD
Located in a beautifully renovated 18th century stables, Restoration Yard offers a unique mix of retail, dining and wellness. The Restoration Yard Store is home to covetable fashion brands, luxury food and drink, gifts, furniture and more, while The Kitchen restaurant and The Larder offer tasty food in scenic surroundings. Those looking for a little restoration of their own can attend wellbeing classes at The Studio or enjoy a tranquil treatment or coaching session at The Sanctuary.
GETTING ACTIVE
With a Sky Maze, turreted treehouses, zip wires and slides, Fort Douglas is an adventurer’s dream, and the recently opened Go Ape treetop course is a spectacular high-rope experience for thrill-seeking children and their grown-ups.
DALKEITH, NATURALLY
The Park is also home to farming operations and cultivated woodlands, providing many walks for visitors to enjoy, along with way-marked cycling trails. Keen anglers can enjoy a day’s fly-fishing for Brown Trout and Grayling on the River Esk, while wildlife enthusiasts might spot Roe deer, otters, buzzards, foxes, badgers, hares and rabbits.
GROWING FOR THE FUTURE
Additional initiatives at Dalkeith Country Park include a new accommodation offering, building on the success of 2021’s camping initiative, improved infrastructure and the promotion of the impressive Dalkeith Palace as a significant cultural destination.
