Full-time CEO, part-time farmer.   Chartered surveyor with a law degree and a passionate interest in the countryside.  Twenty years in the public sector before joining Buccleuch as CEO in 1989.   Thrives on challenge.

Julian Lamont, Director of Finance, the Buccleuch Group

Julian Lamont, Director of Finance, the Buccleuch Group
Joined the Buccleuch Group in 2002. He is a graduate of Heriot Watt University with an Honours degree in Accountancy and Computer Science. Working in the profession for 6 years he qualified as a chartered accountant and a chartered tax adviser before moving into industry where he spent 10 years in various senior finance roles within the Murray International group of companies. Julian has extensive corporate finance experience and is also a member of the Association of Corporate Treasurers.

David Gwyther, Rural Estates Director

David Gwyther, Rural Estates Director
Qualified as a chartered surveyor and  land agent in 1975 and has a very wide experience of the rural sector, working in both private practice and resident agency.   Joining the Buccleuch Group in 2001, he took on the role of Rural Estates Director, responsible for the management of the four Buccleuch Estates in Scotland and England.

Joined the group in 2003 with extensive experience in the commercial, development and investment sector and took on the challenge to significantly grow the Group's property business.   David is a qualified chartered surveyor and has worked on a wide range of projects throughout the UK including spending 5 years of his career in London. 

Kathryn Barclay, Head of Human Resources, the Buccleuch Group

Kathryn Barclay, Head of Human Resources, the Buccleuch Group
Has worked in HR Management for over 14 years and is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.  She enjoys project management, policy development, business consultancy, training, recruitment and employment law. Kathryn is very partial to mountains and enjoys walking, biking and skiing.


Richard Williamson, Director of Communications & Brand Strategy

Joined the Buccleuch Group in 1986 to manage visitor attractions and now heads up corporate communications and marketing for the Group. Born within earshot of Headingley in Leeds, he is naturally a cricket enthusiast. A professional member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations and the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Richard is guardian of the Buccleuch Brand and one of its staunchest champions.

Alan Nisbet's company, FBR Ltd joined the Buccleuch Group in June 2005.   At this time, Alan also assumed the management responsibility for Buccleuch John Sale, Chartered Surveyors and in January 2006, Buccleuch Town and Country.  Having qualified as a chartered surveyor in 1985, Alan has over 20 years experience of property/asset management in Scotland and the North of England.

Andrew Robertson, Managing Director, Buccleuch Country

Andrew Robertson, Managing Director, Buccleuch Country
Buccleuch Country division was formed in December 2005, following the acquisition of Andrew’s businesses; Scotmin Nutrition Ltd and Talisker Bay International Ltd. An agriculture graduate of Aberdeen University, Andrew has over twenty years experience in manufacturing and business development. Since 2001 has been developing export trade in over thirty countries. When not embroiled in the ‘cut and thrust’ of commerce, can be found sailing with his family, or working on his golf handicap.
