Buccleuch FBR wins unique contract to manage land at Dumfries House

PRESS RELEASE

Buccleuch FBR the Scottish Borders based chartered surveying and farm business consultancy are delighted to announce that they have won the first contract to provide rural land management services to the Trustees of the newly opened Dumfries House.

Dumfries House is an imposing Palladian mansion nestled within 2,000 acres of scenic countryside in Ayrshire in south-west Scotland.

Saved for the nation by a last minute fundraising bid, led by HRH The Prince Charles, Duke of Rothesay, Dumfries House has opened to the public for the first time this month.

Speaking on behalf of Buccleuch FBR and leading the land management team Nick Wright said “we are delighted to have secured the land management of an estate with such an exciting future. Being part of a team which takes a previously unseen estate directly into the public spotlight will present some unique challenges.”

“It is rare that a business gets an opportunity to be involved in such an exciting project from the beginning.”

The House which was officially opened to the public on Friday 6th June by HRH Prince Charles, Duke of Rothsay, and the development of this related land, will together act as powerful agents of economic regeneration for the immediate area and beyond.

Nick says “We will be managing a portfolio of estate buildings, woodlands and farms and will be looking to offer the Trustees innovative ideas for their future use which support the regeneration of a former mining area and create a real link to the local communities and wider public.”

A number of land management businesses were invited to tender for this unique first contract at Dumfries House and in presenting the winning bid Nick is sure that “being a part of the wider Buccleuch Group meant that we had an expert in every field associated with managing such an estate and my role will be to draw on this unrivaled knowledge to help the Trustees deliver an inspiring set of objectives which will benefit the whole of the local area”.
