Notes To Editors
The first mention of Primside in the Register of the Great Seal is in 1474 when it was part of the Barony of Cesfurde.
On 21st September 1542 Primside was erected into a barony in its own right in a charter to Walter Ker of Cesfurd. At the time the Kers would have had judicial jurisdiction over all who lived within the barony. The ownership of the barony depended very much in staying on the good side of the monarch.
Walter Ker is an ancestor of the current Duke of Roxburghe, His Grace, Guy David Innes-Ker.
