Lamb Island

Lamb Island

PRESS RELEASE
For immediate release
9th October 2008

An offshore safe haven

A safe haven for seabird colonies at least.

Estate agents Buccleuch John Sale has just brought to the market Lamb Island or just Lamb, a small, uninhabited island in the Firth of Forth.

Lamb is about 800m off shore from North Berwick and about 23 miles east of Edinburgh and offers the purchaser a unique chance to buy this special piece of Scotlands natural history.

The island is about 100m x 50m, about 1.25 acres and falls within the Firth of Forth SSI and Special Protection Area due to its significant nature conservation value.

The Lamb can be reached by boat from North Berwick, although landing is difficult it is possible at times.

The Lamb is flanked by two "sheep dogs" - North and South Dog Islands - which are basically small skerries. Like the other islands off North Berwick, the Lamb is a result of ancient volcanic activity, millions of years ago.

Nick Wright of selling agents Buccleuch John Sale comments “many things are described as unique opportunities, but this really has to be, although uninhabited and uninhabitable, who hasn’t at times fancied the idea of owning a private Island.”

“It has to be the ultimate venue for family days at the seaside.”
