Young Gamekeeper Competition

Scotland’s first ever annual Young Scottish Gamekeeper of the Year awards were launched at the Game Conservancy Scottish fair at Scone.

This exciting new competition is the first in Scotland to recognise and reward the hard work and dedication of Scotland’s younger gamekeepers.

Buccleuch Group companies Game and Country and Spratts along with the Scottish Gamekeepers Association and Lovat Mill understand the vital conservation contribution younger entrants make to this noble profession and are searching for nominations.

The winner will receive a bespoke, suit made especially for them in the unique and innovative Young Gamekeeper Tweed designed and woven by Lovat Mill in Hawick exclusively for this competition.

Mark Oddy, estate manager for Buccleuch at Langholm said: “These young professionals play a vital role in the management of Scotland’s unique and special countryside, making important contributions to biodiversity and the protection of threatened species.

“We want to encourage the great work they do and help ensure that Scotland stays great”.

“If you know a gamekeeper, ghillie or wildlife ranger aged 25 years or below, who you feel has shown a commitment to the job beyond the call of duty, then we want to hear from you.”
