HISTORIC SCOTLAND - BUCCLEUCH HERITAGE

Preserving the inimitable heritage of Buccleuch, as a proud member of Historic Scotland, is a full time job. The fresh, contemporary outlook of the Buccleuch Group is built on the resilient foundations of its past, a fact the company is proud to recognise and protect.

Protecting the heritage of Buccleuch is intrinsic in all the company does and the firm shows the same dedication to caring for its built environment as it does for its day-to-day business.

Drumlanrig Castle
Re-leading the impressive turreted roof and restoring its sandstone walls has taken 18 years to complete and used 266 tonnes of lead. A team of Estate craftsmen, joiners and masons have used their considerable skills to safeguard the future of this magnificent castle for generations to come.

Bowhill
The 18th century original mansion and former Royal hunting lodge, Bowhill House has undergone a nine year programme of  intensive restoration to return the roof and impressive stone façade to its former glory.

Dalkeith House
Sitting above the North Esk River, the palace is considered to be one of Scotland’s grandest earliest classical houses, with some parts dating back to a 12th century castle. Preserving this historic home is an on-going process and work has just started on replacing the roof.

Boughton House
One of the great houses of Europe, Boughton’s grand proportions and classical French lines makes it a fine example of a rich variety of architecture. A rolling programme of preservation is ongoing to ensure this impressive and important example of architecture will grace the pages of historic Scotland and England for centuries to come.

We are committed to preserving our heritage as part of historic Scotland and England
