The Buccleuch family have been renowned for high standards of woodland management for centuries. This tradition has given us an outstanding resource covering over 10000ha in the UK with all our woodlands managed under Long Term Forest Plans and independently accredited to the UK Woodland Assurance Standards. The large number of woodland Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), scheduled historic designed landscapes and recreation facilities is testament to this.

The Buccleuch woodlands are very diverse in terms of age and tree species. They provide a constant challenge for our woodland managers to meet our objectives of biodiversity, sporting, timber production, recreation, wildlife management and landscape amenity.

From our own woodlands within South Scotland and Northamptonshire we supply both hardwood and softwood timber. Our softwood timber includes premium quality Douglas Fir, Larch and Scots Pine through to the more common building and fencing timber grades.

We also supply hardwood timber of all grades. These range from the highest quality veneer and 1st grade planking, to the furniture industry. Bulk loads of Charcoal are also available from Dalkeith and Bowhill.

The woodlands team are able to provide advice and practical help on all aspects of woodland management and timber supply throughout Scotland. We have provided clients with help in projects that vary from preparing new native woodland planting designs through to continuous cover management plans. We can also provide electronic mapping solutions to clients for both planning and land management purposes.
